Houston Man Arrested for Burglary of Jewelry Store in LaPlace

A Houston man has been arrested in connection to the burglary of a jewelry store in LaPlace.
Through investigation, SJSO Criminal Investigations Division detectives determined Timothy Emerson of Houston, Texas was responsible for the burglary that occurred Christmas morning at the LaPlace jewelry store.
On Sunday, December 25, 2022, about 6:20 a.m., officers responded to several alarms being activated at the jewelry store. Upon arrival, deputies observed that the front glass door of the business had been shattered, and entry was made into the business. Deputies conducted a security sweep of the business and observed that several of the glass cases inside the business had been shattered, and the contents inside of the cases had been rummaged through.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives reviewed surveillance video in the area and used cell phone mapping tools to develop Emerson as the suspect.
Detectives also learned that Emerson had been involved in a multi-state burglary ring and is currently incarcerated in Harris County, Texas. In reference to the LaPlace jewelry burglary, Emerson was charged with simple burglary. He will be transported to St. John Parish at the conclusion of his current charges in Harris County.
