ESJ students tour Whitney Plantation

EDGARD—The East St. John High School Literary/Film Production club toured the Whitney Plantation during our Mardi Gras Break. The students had an in depth look at the history of enslaved Africans and African – Americans, freedom and equality. The historical tour covered the slave rebellions, Emancipation, Articles of Confederation, and a dedication to those who fought for our country.
Our students discussed what they learned and spoke about their feelings. They were asked to share what they learned with family and friends.
