LAPLACE — Annual parades in St. John the Baptist Parish are set to roll the weekend before Mardi Gras.
Krewe of Towahpahsah and Krewe of Dage’ Parades will both follow their traditional routes in Reserve and LaPlace. However, for the safety of citizens due to ongoing construction, parts of Main Street in LaPlace will be barricaded. The Carrollwood Project will not interfere with the Krewe of Dage’ parade route in LaPlace.
St. John Parish officials and the Sheriff’s Office have met with representatives from each parade as well as emergency responders who assist with logistics for both parades. Public restrooms will be placed on parish servitudes throughout the parade routes and roads are expected to close 30 minutes before the parade arrives.
St. John the Baptist Parish Government offices will be closed on Monday, February 20 and Tuesday, February 21 for the Mardi Gras holiday.
