“Lolli, we have lights!” my granddaughter Adeline announced as she ran into my bedroom. The power had been out for a few hours, then at 9:45 p.m., a few seconds before Adeline’s broadcast, power was restored.
I thanked Adeline for telling me about the lights, but in all honesty, I already knew. My lamp, ceiling fan light, and the bathroom light all shone simultaneously. Adeline didn’t have to tell me. It was obvious.
Light, quiet yet powerful, dispels darkness immediately. It allows me to see myself as I really am, and the illumination of my surroundings prevents me from tripping.
Experiencing both light and darkness brings clarity to Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”
The Bible contains the guidance I need for my life. If I turn my back on the wisdom it contains, I will be unsure of my steps, stumble, and fall. But I never have to be without it, for God’s Word is available to me. It’s my choice to read and obey it. And it’s your choice, too. May we both choose wisely.
