RAPIDES PARISH – The State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFM) has arrested a Lecompte man for allegedly setting fire to an apartment unit that was feet away from a relative’s home.
Izaih Lloyd, 36, was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on Sept. 28 on one count of Aggravated Arson and an additional unrelated warrant.
In the morning hours of Tuesday, Sept. 27, the Lecompte Fire Department responded to reports of an apartment fire located in the 3000 block of Pine Street. Firefighters learned the fire was noticed by police officers in the area investigating a trespassing call that involved Lloyd.
After an assessment of the scene, including witness statements, SFM deputies determined the fire was intentionally set in the bedroom of an apartment located above a storage area. The structure stands six feet from a mobile home that was occupied at the time of the fire.
Following additional investigative efforts, Lloyd was confirmed as the suspect in the case and was taken into custody.
The SFM thanks the Lecompte Police Department for its assistance in closing this case.
