Coast Guard suspends search for mariner who went missing Baton Rouge

NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard suspended its search Thursday for a mariner who went missing after his vessel took on water near Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Missing is a 45-year-old African-American male last seen in the water without a lifejacket near mile marker 232 on the Lower Mississippi River.
Rescue crews searched for approximately 24 hours, covering more than 115 miles along the Mississippi River.
Rescue crews involved in the search were:
- A Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew
- A Coast Guard Station New Orleans 29-foot Response Boat – Small boatcrew
- Coast Guard Cutter Tiger Shark
- Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries
- East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office
- West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office
