Hahnville, LA – St. Charles Parish has been approved for a private property debris removal program (PPDR) through FEMA, covering private property debris removal and demolition. DebrisTech will be assisting residents with this program beginning the week of May 23.
PPDR involves removal of potentially eligible storm-generated debris from private property. Examples of hurricane-generated debris include construction and demolition debris, household hazardous waste, and white goods (household appliances). To be eligible for the program, debris removal must be in the public interest, meaning:
· Eliminates immediate threats to life, public health and safety
· Eliminates immediate threats of significant damage to improved public or private property.
Demolition involves the removal of eligible storm-damaged homes that are no longer safe to live in. To remove damaged property, it must have been occupied before the hurricane, damaged by the hurricane and in danger of collapsing.
