Breaching Course Set For Next Week

The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team will host an advanced breaching course February 21-26, 2022 in the areas of the LaPlace, Reserve, and Edgard housing developments, ahead of the scheduled demolition of these complexes. Multiple law enforcement agencies nationwide will attend.
This course will focus on the technical aspects of munitions interaction with materials, advanced breaching skills, tactical implementation, and heavy-breaching techniques. Training will occur in and on real buildings, which are vacant, and scheduled to be demolished.
Citizens will hear controlled detonations, and may see an increase in law enforcement presence in the areas of these complexes from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Do not be alarmed as this is only training.
