Wrong Way Driver Killed in Terrebonne Parish Crash

Gray – On November 22, 2021, shortly before 3:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop C began investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash on U.S. Highway 90 near Louisiana Highway 24. The crash claimed the life of 51-year-old Paul Chevalier of Lafayette.
The preliminary investigation revealed Chevalier, who was driving a 2007 Dodge Charger, was traveling east in the westbound lanes of U.S. Hwy 90. For reasons still under investigation, the Dodge struck a westbound Ford pickup head-on in the left lane of U.S. Hwy 90.
Although Chevalier was properly restrained, he suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the Ford were also properly restrained. The Ford’s driver was transported with severe injuries while the passenger was transported with minor injuries.
A toxicology sample was collected from both drivers and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Troop C has investigated 38 fatal crashes resulting in 48 deaths in 2021.
