Over the last two weeks, adult-sized channel catfish were stocked in Get Out and Fish! ponds across Louisiana. Hurry on over to one of the seventeen sites today to take advantage of this great opportunity to catch catfish. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries’ Get Out and Fish! Community Fishing Program seeks to increase the number of people with access to quality fishing, to recruit new anglers to the sport of fishing, and to promote outdoor activities for future generations.?
One of the newly added Get Out and Fish! sites, Bayou Country Sports Complex in Houma, hosted a fishing event to bring the family together for a fun day outdoors. With over 100 people in attendance and almost every one catching a catfish, the event was a huge success. All participants also received breakfast donated by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation (LAWFF) and New Orleans Roast Coffee. Young anglers took home tons of goodies courtesy of Cabela’s and bait was donated by Russel and Symantha Bergeron.
Interested in fishing at one of our Get Out and Fish! sites? Then head on over to the interactive map which displays all seventeen locations across Louisiana: https://www.wlf.la.
Please remember, all anglers 16 and older must possess a Louisiana fishing license when fishing in any Louisiana public waters. Licenses are available for purchase online at https://louisianaoutdoors.
The LDWF Get Out and Fish is hosted in conjunction with the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation. The Foundation was formed to help expand and support LDWF education and research programs with additional resources developed through its own facilities. Encouraging support for LDWF programs is the major focus of the Foundation, accomplished by connecting people and businesses with Louisiana’s natural resources.
