LAPLACE — Rae Dior Couture’s Back to School Fashion Show & Pop-up Shop will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, August 1 at 1713 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace.
This community event is a fashion show, pop-up shop and back-to-school bash all in one. Children’s activities, music, prizes, live performances, and gift cards for shoes and school uniforms ensure there will be something for every family to smile about. During this event, 200 bags filled with school supplies will be distributed to 200 children in need.
Registration is not required to receive school supplies. Shatara Diggs will serve as the host for the back to school event, and sounds will be provided by DJ B Smooth.
Rae Dior Couture owner Lexus “Luckii” Wells was inspired to give back to the community because she remembers how much of an impact school supply donations had on her family when she was growing up.
“I remember as a young girl coming up throughout my entire grade school life how so many people would deliver school supplies to my mother’s house for my five siblings and I due to my mom not being able to afford for us to have supplies every year. We would even get assistance with school uniforms, shoes and hairstyles/haircuts,” Wells said.
She added that the Back to School Fashion Show & Pop-up Shop is a way to show appreciation for the community members who have supported her daughter’s business. For the past year, Wells has been growing Rae Dior Couture, an online fashion boutique dedicated to her infant daughter, Rae’Lynn Dior Jackson.
“I also am a huge supporter of my daughter’s supporters with her business, so I figured this would be the perfect time to show my appreciation to all the parents who have blessed my daughter by supporting her business in any kind of way, whether it was from a purchase, a share on Facebook or even something so small as referring her business to a friend. My daughter is blessed, not necessarily by the dollar amount but the genuine love and support that she receives from so many people around the world. Now it’s our turn to pay those blessings forward,” Wells said. “I also want to say thank you to everyone who has donated to make this event possible. It takes a village, and the village was the only way this event could have been possible.”
