Lorie Breaux Bourgeois, a lifelong resident of LaPlace, Louisiana, peacefully passed away at the age of 60 on Mother’s Day: May 9, 2021. She is survived by her children Benjamin and Rachelle and siblings Kermit Jr., Lisa and Kyle, as well as an untold number of friends, relatives, neighbors and co-workers.

Lorie was born to Kermit Sr. and Sarah Breaux on November 10, 1960. After graduating from Leon Godchaux High School, Lorie attended Nicholls State University then returned to LaPlace, where she married and stayed home to raise her children Benjamin and Rachelle.

A music lover and talented singer, Lorie sang in bands and recorded an EP with her siblings Kermit Jr. and Lisa — and instilled a lifelong love of music in her children. She was happiest surrounded by her family and hosting friends and neighbors in the house she bought just down the street from her childhood home.

Lorie also worked at Metairie Bank for over a decade and was a constant fixture at their Christmas parties, Halloween celebrations and other events. Always eager to celebrate with others, she regularly attended Mardi Gras balls, fairs, festivals and concerts.

A funeral and memorial service is scheduled for 11 AM on Friday, May 14, 2021 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church at 529 W 5th St. in LaPlace, LA 70068.

Arrangements entrusted to Baloney Funeral Home.
