Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

One of the most encouraging things about new years, new weeks and new days is the word “new.” The encouraging news for the suffering alcoholic or drug addict is that every day you can make a decision to start a new life.

The first step is to admit you have a problem and are sick and tired of the old life. The second step is to make a phone call for help. More people seek help for drug problems in January than in any other month.

It’s only by God’s Grace that on Jan. 25, I will celebrate 17,167 days (47 years) of sobriety. I mention it in days, because life is lived only one day at a time. It’s a fact that in December, suffering alcoholics and drug addicts in search of happiness abuse more drugs than in any other month.

I’m reminded of the definition I heard years ago of unhappiness, which is not knowing what you want and killing yourself to get it. The good news is that December 2020, is over and January starts the beginning of a new year. Studies show that more people seek help during the first month of the year than any other month.

If you, or someone you know, are fighting the addiction to alcohol or illegal drugs, be assured that there are people willing to help. The first and most important step in defeating the problem is making a decision to seek help.

Having been a laborer in God’s ministry of Get High on Life since 1980, I have been able to direct people to different agencies and rehab programs. The programs that I recommend will allow you to have a spiritual awakening that will free you from the misery and bondage of alcohol and illegal drugs.

What a better time than the New Year to make a decision to change your old way of living!
