The St. John Parish Assessor is responsible for discovery, listing and valuing all property in St. John the Baptist Parish for ad valorem tax purposes; this property includes all real estate, all business movable property (personal property}, and all oil and gas property and equipment.

Every four years the Assessor must reassess properties within the parish in order to ensure that properties are assessed at present fair market value.

R.S.47:2322 mandates that Assessors reappraise properties to ensure fair and equitable assessments.

The process of reassessment is nearly complete with letters to be mailed. A review and appeals period will follow but residents can call 985-652-5311 and/or make an appointment any time.
