EDGARD — Riverside Academy’s Alainah Felton and Emily Vicknair teamed up on the mound to shut out the West St. John Lady Rams 20-0 Wednesday in Edgard.

Felton, a sophomore, threw 24 strikes out of 37 pitches and struck out six. She also performed well at bat and landed a double.

Cara Campbell also hit a double. Meanwhile, senior Lexi Johnson was the only player to hit a homerun. Johnson had 17 homeruns in 2019, and maintaining those standards could make her the first person in Riverside Academy history to earn all-metro and all-state designations for five years in a row.

Emily Vicknair caught a groundout ball to win the game.

The Lady Rebels exited the week with a 3-2 season record. On Monday, Riverside Academy lost to Central Catholic by only one point. Both teams had strong arms, with Central Catholic striking out 12 and the Lady Rebels striking out 10.

The Riverside Academy varsity baseball team had one game this week against Hammond High School. Hammond ran away with an early lead, and the Rebels lost the game 10-5. Luke Hymel, Devin Watson and Skyler Edwards led the Rebels at bat.

The Rebels baseball team exited the week with a 3-5 record. They have earned wins against New Orleans Military & Maritime Academy, Kentwood and Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy.
