VACHERIE — Earlier this year, St. James High School running back Sean LeBeouf said he didn’t need to purchase a class ring because he was going to earn a football championship ring.
That prophecy came to fruition this month as St. James High School won the Class 3A football championship. Now, he has even more to look forward to.
On Wednesday, Dec. 18, LeBeouf signed a letter of intent to play for the Navy Midshipman football team, representing the United States Naval Academy in NCAA Division I FBS College Football.
“I want to thank y’all for all the support here,” LeBeouf said before the signing. “It was truly a blessing playing here.”
He thanked the coaches who have built him into the person he is today.
LeBeouf has been an outstanding member of the Wildcats football team, according to head coach Robert Valdez. His career stats include 484 carries, 2,926 yards, 33 touchdowns, 51 receptions and an average of 6.5 yards per carry.
“Only a selective few nationwide are selected to participate or to enroll and have the ability to play for the U.S. Naval Academy,” Valdez said.
More members of the 2019 St. James football championship team are expected to sign to colleges in February.
