Workshop for homeowners to avoid foreclosure

LAPLACE – The Louisiana Housing Corporation will host a foreclosure prevention workshop on from 6 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 19 at the St. John the Baptist Parish Library (Norris J. Millet Sr. library – Central Branch) located at 2920 Highway 51 in LaPlace.

This workshop is for homeowners including those on the verge of delinquency and foreclosure and will discuss how to prevent mortgage delinquency and defaults, as well as avoiding foreclose.

“Our goal is to help homeowners before they default on their mortgage, said Sonja Andrews-Smith, LHC certified housing counselor. “If we are able to assist them beforehand it will increase their chances of avoiding foreclosure. We want homeowner to recognize that this isn’t something that they have to face alone.”

Hosted in partnership with the St. John the Baptist Parish, this event is open to the public. There is no cost to attend, but registration is highly recommended due to limited seating. Interested parties can register at lhc.la.gov/events or call (888) 454-2001.
