LOGANSPORT – A powerful season came to an end for the No. 1 ranked West St. John Rams Friday night as No. 8 Logansport executed a 22-14 upset in the Class 1A quarterfinals.

West St. John practiced on Thanksgiving Day for the ninth year in a row while preparing to face a familiar opponent. The Rams defeated the Logansport Tigers in a 24-23 heartbreaker in 2018, coming from behind to sneak the win in the final seconds of the game.

However, this year was a different story.

After losing the first five games of the 2019 season, Logansport turned their luck around for six consecutive wins coming into Friday night’s match-up against the Rams. That winning streak increased to seven games as the Tigers earned a spot in the semifinals.

The Tigers were the first to reach the scoreboard in the second quarter when Patrick Mims broke through with a 32-yard touchdown run. The Rams answered with a 78-yard yard kick-off return for a touchdown by junior KaeJean Kendrick. West St. John senior D’Kyri Jackson added a touchdown to propel the Rams to a 14-6 lead at halftime.

Logansport tied up the score 14-14 in the third quarter with a 37-yard touchdown run from Mims. That lead increased by eight in the fourth quarter when the Tigers capitalized on a turnover for a 22-14 win.
