Vendors, cook-off contestants invited to Scout Family Fun Day

LAPLACE — Cub Scouts Pack 93/318 is hosting a second annual Scout Family Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16. The event will take place at the Lutheran Church of the Galilean, located at 3404 Highway 51 in LaPlace.
The day’s festivities will include a gumbo cook-off, craft booths, the Reptile Krewe exhibition, a kid’s bounce house, police and fire department demonstrations, concessions, a jambalaya sale, 50/50 raffles and all-you-can-eat gumbo for $7.
Participants in the gumbo cook-off must prepare enough food to serve 35 people. Gumbo must be ready for judging at noon.
There must be a minimum of two people per team, and the roux must be prepared from scratch. It is recommended that teams pay a suggested donation on $25. Vendor booth space is available at Scout Family Fun Day. There will be a suggested donation of $35, and each vendor will be provided with two tables. The fee is due by Nov. 9. Vendors can start setting up at 8 a.m.
