DOTD traffic notices
I-10
Traffic I-10, Eastbound and Westbound Travel Lanes on the high rise section, from 7.1 miles East of LA 641 Gramercy/Lutcher (Exit 194) to .384 miles West of Belle Terre Blvd (LaPlace Exit 205), will have alternating lane closures, nightly, from 9 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. August 18 – August 23 (weather permitting) for bridge rail repairs.
- One lane will remain open at all times and there are no vehicle restrictions.
- Detour Information:
- Motorists may use the following routes to avoid the work zone.
- Eastbound motorists may take LA 641 (Exit 194) South to US-61, then East on US-61 to LA 3188, then North to re-intersect with I-10.
- Westbound motorists may take LA 3188 (Exit 205) South to US-61, then west on US-61 to LA 641, then North to re-intersect with I-10.
- All construction activity is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
LA 18 at LA 3060
A project to install a left turn lane along LA 18 at LA 3060 (Barton Road), in St. Charles Parish will begin September 9. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced the start of the $446,412 improvement this week.
- Motorists may expect intermittent lane closures between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The contractor is KCR Contractors, LLC. The project is estimated for completion by winter.
- All construction activity is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking or biking near an active work zone.

Free STEM Fest
Stem Fest is from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday. This family friendly event is free and will be held at the St. John the Baptist Parish Community Center at 2900 Highway 51 in LaPlace. There will hands-on STEM based activities.
Ormond Spray Park prepares to close for the season
During the week of August 19-23, the Ormond Spray Park located at 1901 Ormond Blvd. in Destrehan will remain open for its normal schedule of 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
Beginning on August 24, the Ormond Spray Park will be open on weekends only. The park will close for the season on September 30.

St. John the Baptist Parish School Board will meet for a Board Work Session at Emily C. Watkins Elementary School, 938 La. Hwy. 628, LaPlace, Louisiana, on Thursday, August 15 at 4:30 p.m.
It will meet in Regular Session afterwards beginning at 6:00 p.m.
