LAPLACE – With a focus on improving the quality of life for our families in District 5, Lisa Tregre Wilder announced today that she is a candidate for the St. John the Baptist Parish District Council seat. “Serving the public and being a pro-active voice for my constituents while providing solutions and support for the entire betterment of St. John Parish is the driving force of my candidacy,” Wilder said.
“I am a product of St. John Parish and I am proud to call it my home. I graduated from East St. John High School, attended University of New Orleans and received a Business Degree from Phillip College. With 28+ years as a public servant in law enforcement and on other appointed boards throughout the parish, I have the knowledge and integrity needed for this position. I hear the concerns of the residents and understand that forward thinking and implementation of progressive strategies are needed for a positive future in this Parish.
“Residents of District 5 have experienced the flooding of their houses, the decrease in property values, and a growing number of residential units for sale. Without continuing and escalating the fight for proper flood protection and infrastructure improvements, the property values will decrease, and the parish will continue to change.
We have all experienced people leaving the parish and young individuals making the decision to purchase homes in neighboring parishes. We must focus on making St. John attractive for younger families and a desirable location for investment in both homes and businesses. It is not only important to keep current families here, but we must be attractive to those families looking to make St. John Parish home.
“I am a firm believer in keeping our resident’s safe, protect their property, provide adequate services and facilities for our children, businesses and all residence of St. John the Baptist Parish. I am 100% committed to the community and dedicated to progress.
“I look forward to meeting all citizens of District 5 and I ask you all for your support.”
