ST. ROSE — A local man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon in St. Charles Parish, authorities said.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a homicide in the 100 block of Second Street in St. Rose.

Police said the victim, a Hispanic male in his 50s, was found dead in a yard with an apparent gunshot wound. 

A subject believed to have involvement in the shooting was taken into custody a short time later.

Sheriff Greg Champagne announced Saturday night there is no perceived threat to the community.
