LAPLACE — An armed assailant, who robbed a LaPlace resident cutting grass of his clothes, leaving the victim in the yard in just his underwear, is on the loose with little known about the man’s motives or description.
Two weeks after the bizarre assault, a St. John Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said there is no suspect information available and detectives are unaware of what prompted the daylight attack, noting grudge, intimidation or retribution do not appear to be motivating factors.
Police said a 22-year-old was cutting grass in the backyard of a home on Williamsburg Drive when two males approached from behind him. The assault, which took place at approximately 5:30 p.m. Oct. 11, included the assailants pointing guns and demanding everything the victim had.
The victim complied, handing over his clothes, shoes, belt and iPhone.
Police noted the victim was left standing in his boxers, was not physically harmed and no other bystanders were around when the assault took place.
Detectives said they obtained information leading to the arrest of Lance Ronell Joseph, 18, of LaPlace, who was booked Oct. 11.
He is charged with armed robbery with a firearm and is being held in lieu of a $60,350 bond.
As of this week, police said the investigation remains active, the robbery seems random and no other similar victims have been reported.
