Michel: Shape your life with positive thoughts

It never fails. When I search for a product to buy online, ads for similar products begin to show up as I scroll through Facebook and Instagram.

I certainly can’t explain how this works. I only know that a few keyboard clicks for ‘swivel chair’ will produce targeted ads for that style of furniture.

Don’t misunderstand, I’m not complaining. These ads have often ended favorably for me and for the retailer.

I believe thought processes follow a similar pattern. When I notice only the negative aspects of a situation, relationship or task, an avalanche of depressive thoughts seem to collapse on me.

However, when I approach life with optimism, I find that positive thoughts, new ideas and creative solutions to problems reflect off of my half-full glass.

When I search for good, good pops up on the screen of my thoughts.

This principle is found in the Bible and is evident in nature. What we give will be given to us; what we plant, we reap.

I’ve found that my days go a lot better when I walk around believing something wonderful is just around the corner, than to live daily in dread.

The Good News Translation of Proverbs 4:23 sums it up, “Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by our thoughts.”
