St. Charles Parish DWI checkpoint planned Wednesday night

- A "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" DWI checkpoint is planned Wednesday on the East Bank of St. Charles Parish.
The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police are participating in the National “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign with a DWI checkpoint for motorists at an undisclosed location on the East Bank of St. Charles Parish from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., starting Wednesday night.
During this holiday season, Sheriff Greg Champagne is offering local residents a ride home.
If you attend a party in St. Charles Parish and have consumed alcohol, simply call
985-783-6807 and a deputy will give you a free ride home.
Police said those who make the mistake and get behind the wheel impaired can also expect a ride, but it won’t be home, it will be to jail.
