BATON ROUGE — The 52nd annual Greater Baton Rouge State Fair returned Thursday, and continues through Nov. 5 with fun-filled family entertainment at 16072 Airline Highway in Baton Rouge.

Each day features entertainment on the main stage, the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, Swifty Swine Pig Racing, Noah’s Way Petting Zoo, a 25 foot giant screen television and the largest midway in South Louisiana.

On the weekends, each Saturday will feature a Lego Build Extravaganza for children 7-13. There will be two levels of competition, individual and team building. Entry is free but space is limited.

Also on Saturdays, Drone Racing will be held in the arena area. These drones will fly at high speeds over and through obstacles on a marked course with the fastest time being the winner.

The natural amphitheater effect of the arena area makes this a perfect place to watch this exciting event.

The fair will also feature agricultural shows on the weekend, a robotics competition, the Mitchell Brothers midway with over 40 rides, and some unique fair food.

New this year will be nitrogen frozen cereal.  This is the first time this unusual treat has been in Baton Rouge.

The fair is planned and operated by an all-volunteer staff.  The proceeds are returned to the community in the form of scholarships and grants to other non-profit and charitable organizations involved with children, families, and wellness of life. Donations have now passed the $4 million mark.
