Oct. 26, 1967: Two former stars at Leon Godchaux High School in Reserve are members of the 1967 Southeastern Louisiana College grid team that faced former Heisman Trophy winner Roger Staubach and the Pensacola Navy in Hammond. Albert Poche, right, a 6-1, 200-pound center, and Carl Schutz, left, a 5-10, 205-pound linebacker, have been among the standout freshman reporting to the Lions.
Oct. 22, 1997: Faye Gerard, environmental engineer for Marathon and coordinator of the “Keepin’ It Green” household hazardous materials collection day, picks up paint and brings it to be recycled. She said the program cost Marathon and the Department of Environmental Quality about $20,000 because the recycling is about $550 a drum.
