GARYVILLE — A local woman told police her boyfriend threatened her with a firearm, at one point firing a shot while she held their 1-year-old child.
Police said the altercation took place Aug. 9 in Garyville and led to an arrest this week after Tramon Dixon, 29, of Garyville turned himself in on felony aggravated assault upon a dating partner and illegal use of weapons charges. He posted bond and was released Thursday.
According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 400 block of Little Hope Street in Garyville following a weapons disturbance call.
“Upon arrival, the 27-year-old victim told deputies she was involved in a physical altercation with her live-in boyfriend, identified as Tramon Dixon,” A Sheriff’s Office release said. “The victim told officers when she broke away from Dixon and ran outside, he walked to his vehicle and retrieved a gun. The victim said she began running, holding her 1½ year old child, and her two other children, ages 2 and 6, were running beside her through the yard toward South Emilie Street. As they were running, the victim heard a gunshot.”
The victim told police Dixon fled the scene in an unknown direction while she was calling 911.
Responding officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The victim and children were uninjured, police said, adding Dixon is the father of all three children.
Deputies obtained a judicial warrant Monday for Dixon’s arrest, and he turned himself in Wednesday.
