2nd suspect arrested following St. Rose killing

HAHNVILLE — Alan Michael Simmons was arrested Friday for second degree murder and attempted second degree murder, police said.
According to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to an East Club Drive address June 23 in St. Rose.
During the investigation it was learned the two victims were walking across a parking lot on East Club Drive when Diavonte Griffin allegedly summoned the two victims towards him.
As the victims approached, Simmons allegedly emerged from behind an apartment building and fired several shots from a handgun, striking the two victims.
Tyree Sherman was taken to the hospital by EMS, where he subsequently died.
The second victim was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Griffin was previously arrested June 28 for principal to second degree murder and principal to attempted homicide.
Simmons is being held on a $3,000,000 bond.
