Letter: Nursing homes display spirit

Every skilled nursing care center embodies a unique and vibrant spirit and community for residents, volunteers and staff alike.
That’s why Twin Oaks Nursing & Rehab was thrilled that the theme of this year’s National Nursing Home Week, which took place from May 14 to 20, was “The Spirit of America.”
Acts of kindness, generosity and compassion from proud veterans, immigrants and hardworking people of different faiths fill the walls of nursing centers year-round across the country. The theme, “The Spirit of America,” underscores the bond among staff, volunteers and residents that captures the American spirit.
In the same fashion, Twin Oaks Nursing & Rehab is proud to offer opportunities for our residents such as multicultural and intergenerational activities, pet and art therapy, armchair travel and regular special events highlighting the many cultures and traditions of this American Life.
During the annual NNHW observance, in a world where the importance of collaboration can be discounted, community members unite to recognize the role of skilled nursing care centers in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities.
While each person has a unique narrative, individuals that have made an impact in these nursing care centers share in the achievement of making a significant contribution to St. John the Baptist Parish, and being dedicated to improving the quality of life for residents.
