LAPLACE — St. John the Baptist Parish officials announced at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday that the Boil Water Advisory for LaPlace water customers has been lifted.

The Advisory had been in effect since Sunday morning.

Test results by the Louisiana Department of Health were negative for contaminants and the water is safe for consumption, Parish officials said.

LaPlace water customers can resume normal water use.

“St. John the Baptist Parish Utilities Department and Administration appreciate all efforts made during the water line repairs and water outage and apologize for the inconvenience bestowed on residents and businesses throughout the parish,” a release from the Parish said.

LaPlace residents had been under the advisory following a break in a main waterline near Woodland Drive following a vehicle collision.

Protocol following a loss of pressure to the system requires water sample testing by a state certified lab. The sample must be incubated for 24 hours before the test is administered.

Test results are sent to the Parish and Department of Health, and if no contaminants are identified, the Boil Water Advisory is lifted.

During the Boil Water Advisory, LaPlace residents and businesses were instructed to boil water for one minute in a clean container prior to consumption. It was safe to bathe, wash clothes and wash dishes during the Advisory.
