LaPlace — St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre is requiring officers to participate in training to improve skills in preventing and responding to active shooter incidents.
Sessions that simulated active shooting scenarios were held last month at LaPlace Elementary School, and an active shooter event is planned Nov. 7 at LaPlace Elementary.
Law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical services, parish government and the parish school system will work together in an emergency scenario to help all involved.
