RESERVE — Two men were shot overnight Friday, requiring medical attention, but to this point have been uncooperative with authorities, according to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Mike Tregre said deputies located a 38-year-old Reserve man with a gunshot wound to his leg on the porch of a house in the 100 block of East 1st Street at 12:26 a.m. Saturday. The victim, who’s name has not been released, was taken to an area hospital for medical treatment. His current condition is unknown, authorities said Monday afternoon.

Less than a half hour later, another man with a gunshot wound, a 32-year-old from Reserve, walked into Ochsner Medical Complex-River Parishes emergency room after sustaining a gunshot wound to his back. His current condition is unknown, authorities said Monday. His name has also not been released

“The investigation revealed both men were injured during a shooting that took place at the corner of Central Avenue and Louisiana 44 in Reserve,” Tregre said. “Neither victim was cooperative with investigators during the investigation.”

Local deputies first responded to the area near Central Avenue and East 3rd Street in Reserve just after midnight Saturday following a report of gunshots as an assistance request from a man seeking  help at a house on East 1st Street.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at 985-359-TIPS or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.

Residents that call Crimestoppers do not have to testify and may qualify for a cash reward. Tips can also be submitted at stjohnsheriff.org/submitatip.php.
