Fall brings the cooler weather, and, soon, we will be celebrating the end-of-the-year holidays.

Many high school students are beginning to think about applying for college admission. While these students won’t be attending college full time just yet, it is time for other students to begin the process now.

The spring semester at South Louisiana Technical College is just around the corner, and now is the time to begin the process of admissions and securing financial aid.

Classes in several areas are available, as well as day and evening classes for students who work.

The Business Department curriculum is available online beginning in spring 2016. The Associates Degree Program in General Business, Accounting or Medical Office may now be taken completely online through the Reserve Campus.

Financial Aid Counselors are available throughout the business day to assist with applications and questions. All Departments have advisors available for campus tours and curriculum planning.

Programs available for spring 2016 are A/C Refrigeration, Industrial Maintenance, Process Technology, Patient Care Technician, Business Office Administration, Medical Assistant, Industrial Instrumentation and Welding.

Graduates from South Central Louisiana Technical College enjoy top starting salaries with Industry and in the Medical field.

Coming soon to the Reserve Campus is a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program. This will be a six-week course available twice each semester.

After completion, graduates will be work-ready. Several trucking companies in the River Parishes are waiting to hire our graduates.

With high retirement numbers looming in the coming three years, these companies are ready to hire.

License Practical Nursing is accepting applications. Go to scl.edu to complete the application. On the website, you may also complete the application for financial aid.

Come to the campus to schedule the entrance exam and to deliver the documents for processing. Office hours are from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. for administration and financial aid.

This class is limited to 25 students and fills very quickly. The LPN Program is an 18-month program and provides full preparation to take the nursing boards upon completion.

The Welding Program is accepting applications for a special night program for the new semester. Day classes are available as well.

American Welding Society certification is available to students completing the program. With the new plants coming to the River Parishes, welders will be in demand for the construction phases.

Think you can’t go to college and make a better life for you and your family? We say you can.

South Central Louisiana Technical College is here for you.
