- Nov. 5: 1987: Helen Banquer, left, coordinator of the adult community education program in the St. Charles Parish school system, was honored as the 1987 Operation Mainstream Outstanding Volunteer of the Year. Judy Davis, right, area coordinator of Operation Mainstream for the East Back of the River Parishes, was awarded for her outstanding service to the program.
Nov. 3 1988: They had to stop the ride for this unhappy young rider, Rence’ Julian of Belle Chasse, who obviously wasn’t having a good time on the kiddy car ride at the Andouille Festival.
