EDGARD — The West St. John Rams (3-5) have a little something extra to celebrate this homecoming — their 42-28 victory over the Sophie B. Wright Warriors (1-6) in their District 12-2A match up.

“We scored first to bring the score to 7-0,” West St. John head football coach Brandon Walters said.

“I think we played well offensively. We made some improvements. I don’t like that we gave so much up defensively. I think we could have done a better job on some things that we did. We blew a few assignments. Overall, I’m pleased with the way the kids played and the win that responded. It’s always good to win your homecoming. I think the guys did a good job.

“A lot of players made a lot of good plays. We had some long kick-off returns. (Junior wide receiver) Jamal Walters had two interceptions and a touchdown pass. (Senior quarterback) Jemoine Green had two of those touchdowns and some passes. (Senior) Lamore Boudoin had a good night rushing the ball. He had close to 100 yards rushing, maybe a little more. He scored twice.”

Walters said this win meant a lot to the team, which isn’t used to losing, but lost the previous five consecutive games.
