LAPLACE — Lamont Bigham has announced his candidacy for Councilman District 7 in St John the Baptist Parish.
The election is scheduled for Oct. 24, with the three-day qualifying period starting Sept. 8.
A resident of LaPlace for 20 years and St. John the Baptist Parish community servant for over 15 years in the areas of education, recreations and mentorship programs, Bigham said he is a natural and persuasive communicator recognized among colleagues for his ability to energize and inspire individuals to work towards achieving a common goal.
Bigham said he is a visionary, energetic, challenge-driven, successful young professional in the community and clergy and exudes leadership, character, integrity, loyalty, respect and a strong commitment for his community.
“As your next councilman, I will continue to be committed as a full service servant of integrity to raise up and accelerate District 7 and St. John the Baptist Parish to its full potential as a leader, decision maker, spokesman and voice of reasoning,” he said
Bigham said he would like to work toward a parishwide levee protection project, drainage improvements, water system enhancement, water pumping station expansion, parks and recreation expansion, restoring a full-service hospital in St. John the Baptist Parish and growing local business.
He said he wants to invest big in local youth.
As a devoted husband to Tiffany for 15 years and proud father of three children — all being raised in St. John the Baptist Parish — Bigham said he can be found at Stone Pigman Walter Wittmann law firm in New Orleans working daily as an IT Specialist.
