DESTREHAN — Dick Gibbs, a resident of St. Charles Parish for over 20 years living in Destrehan and member of the Planning and Zoning Commission for two terms and chairman for seven years, announced his candidacy for St. Charles Parish Council District 3.
“Positive change is always good for a community, and while I believe our Property and Sales taxes are high, I will work to reduce these burdens and put money back in your pockets,” Gibbs said.
“Council District 3 needs a strong leader who can come to the table with ideas, not ideology. I look forward to being an independent voice on the council and will represent our entire Parish, including our youth, our seniors, our diverse communities and neighborhoods throughout the third district.
“I have had considerable success as a businessman over the years and I know what it takes to balance budgets and develop strong P&L statements.”
Gibbs said his family has made Destrehan their home and this contributed to his success in life.
“I care deeply and passionately about our community,” he said. “I consider serving on the council not as politics, but as public service. I want to do all I can to contribute to preserving all that’s great about St. Charles Parish, and to making it an even better place to live, work and raise a family in the future.”
Gibbs said, while he wasn’t born in St. Charles Parish, he chose to plant his roots in St. Charles Parish and wants to make sure it becomes a better choice for his children and future grandchildren.

“I would greatly appreciate your vote on Oct. 24, and look forward to representing you and your family in St. Charles Parish as your Councilman for District 3,” Gibbs said.
