CONVENT — St. James Parish President Timmy Roussel has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the National Association of Counties (NACo).
Newly sworn-in NACo President Sallie Clark announced the appointment on the final day of the association’s annual conference in Charlotte, N.C. At the conference, parish and county leaders, along with experts, exchanged ideas to build transformational solutions to better serve parishes, counties and residents.
Roussel is one of 10 appointments to the national board made by Clark.
“I look forward to serving on the NACo Board of Directors,” Roussel said. “It’s an opportunity to move forward on projects important to St. James Parish at the national level.”
While Roussel did not attend the conference, his contributions to the association did not go unnoticed. He was recognized nationally for his commitment to the association’s vision of healthy, vibrant and safe parishes and counties across America.
Roussel has worked with other parish and county leaders to make the National Flood Insurance Program more affordable for homeowners and submitted comments regarding an EPA proposed rule that would impose federal regulations on local ditches, bridges and flood control systems.
As a member of the Board of Directors, Roussel will work on NACo President Clark’s Safe and Secure Counties Initiative. He will focus on protecting public safety, preserving public health and well-being and promoting local economies.
NACo unites America’s 3,069 parish and county governments.
Through NACo, parish and county officials advocate with a collective voice on national policy, exchange ideas and build new skills, innovate transformational county solutions, enhance the public’s understanding of county government and exercise exemplary leadership in public service.
