LAPLACE — Cheryl Millet announced her decision to seek election as Councilwoman-at-Large of Division B of St. John the Baptist Parish.
“It has been both humbling and exciting to serve my community in my position as Councilwoman for District 7,” she said. “Decisions made during my term in office may not have been embraced by all, but there was never a doubt as to where I stood on the issues. I have made every effort to represent all citizens fairly.
“When I first ran for office, I was committed to make the water in LaPlace safe to drink and to increase recreation in District 7. I have made good on these promises.”
Millet said she has been accessible to all residents, having attempted to address their needs and ensure the image of St. John is one of dignity, respect and cooperation.
While living in St. John Parish for over 35 years and as the owner of Saint Optical, she said understands firsthand the struggles small businesses face.
“I know that we need to assist the businesses currently operating in St. John, as well as create new opportunities for further growth,” Millet said.
She has been married to husband Paul for over 30 years. They have five children and are the grandparents of eight.
“I will strive to increase the use of our own natural resources, and to improve and maintain our recreational facilities,” she said. “I ask that you allow me to continue to build on the progress we have made by electing me your next Councilwoman-at-Large for Division B.
“Please join me for a better St. John the Baptist Parish so that I may continue to oversee the completion of projects begun under our bond issues, and make sure that they are completed within or under budget. It is imperative that waste in parish government be identified and eliminated.”
Election day is Oct. 24. Millet said she will meet with as many residents as possible. She can be reached at 504-235-1309 or cherylmilletdivisionb@gmail.com.
