Legion Post 383 making impact

LAPLACE — American Legion Post 383 of LaPlace has been very busy this year with Post and community activities.

During the group’s recent, regular monthly meeting, guest speaker St. John Parish Assessor Whitney Joseph explained how his office worked and how it impacts veterans. More than 80 Legion members attended at the La Belle Place Reception Room, where the Baloney Family has welcomed Legion members as permanent monthly guests for their meetings.

Eight new Legion members were sworn in by Commander Dave Gatt.

Legion members reported their efforts March 28 at Supreme Ford conducting a fundraiser for Boys and Girls State was success.

Sean Kelley, new car sales manager, said when the American Legion puts on a fundraiser, he and his staff have the best days making deals to the public.

State Commander Billy Ray Foley and Auxiliary State Vice President Juliana Robertson were at the most recent event, celebrating the success of the fundraiser.
