LAPLACE — Albert Hane has made his high school career all it could be academically, physically and spiritually.
Son of Mark and Kelly Hane of LaPlace, Hane has displayed traits that prove a good example for all students and reflect well to adults.
Starting out at St. Charles Catholic in the eighth grade, Hane excelled early.
“The environment at St. Charles has allowed me to succeed,” he said. “I’ve been nurtured. I’ve been taught, and I’ve been given a chance each year to fulfill my potential.”
Throughout his years at SCC, he has participated in five years of soccer, five years of football, three years of swimming, three years of golf and a year of track.
In soccer, he has earned All District three times, All River Parish two times, River Parish MVP, MVP for District 7-3, Offensive MVP and All-Metro. For St. Charles, he has been recognized as the school’s all-time single season and career scorer in soccer. Hane also earned All District in football his senior year.
He has joined a diverse group of clubs including Science Club in his senior year, National Honor Society from sophomore year to senior year, Beta Club from freshman year to junior year and French Club from eighth grade to senior year, earning the title of President in his 12th grade year.
Hane is also serving as a Eucharistic Minister this school year. Hane has maintained a 4.0 GPA through sophomore year and holds a 3.9 GPA. With an ACT composite score of 29 and a sub score of 35 in reading, Albert is placed sixth in his class of 82 students.
Academically, Hane has received Composite All-American with a 3.92 GPA, highest grade point average in algebra 1, physical science and biology. He attended the South Central District Literary Rally his freshman and sophomore year for algebra I and geometry and continued to State Rally for geometry.
In each year at SCC, Hane has received service awards ranging from bronze to gold. In his senior year, he was voted Most Outgoing Personality by his peers.
“My teachers and coaches have taught me the tools and the knowledge needed for me to thrive in any career that I choose,” Hane said. “They have taught me how to manage my time and how to study well, and those skills will help me advance later in life.
“But let me say, Mr. (Shawn) Madere has definitely been the teacher to make the lasting impression on me, because he pushed me more than any teacher has pushed me before. He made me not take the easy way. He made me strive for the best I could be, especially in his class.”
Within his community, Hane is a member of Ascension of Our Lord Knights of Columbus and recently made Eagle Scout after participating in Boy Scouts for 13 years.
Hane will be attending Louisiana State University next school year, majoring in business management with a minor in accounting. He has been awarded the Tiger Excellence Scholarship by the university.
“I appreciate all SCC has given me, and I will keep the memories and the St. Charles community in my life,” he said.
