LUTCHER — Chateau St. James Rehab and Retirement is renovating its 116-bed assisted living facility to better care for its clients and answer the wishes of community members for state-of-the-art amenities, company officials said.

The renovations, which began at the Lutcher location in February and should be complete in two years, include construction of a 20 private bed-wing, rehabilitation gym, church chapel and carport to make it easier for resident pick up and drop offs.

The entire project calls for renovation touches throughout the entire facility, Admissions Coordinator Pamela Fey said.

“The private wing is estimated to be complete within the next nine months,” Fey said. “Renovations include painting, putting up new molding inside of the building, electrical updates, lifting the roofs in the hallways, a new carport, a new rehabilitation gym that will be geared around the Rehabilitation To Go Home aspect,” Fey said.

Renovation plans also include adding a new washer, dryer, kitchen counter, stoves, offices and barber shop with two chairs.

The new additions will enhance features already being enjoyed by residents, including a beauty salon, laundry service and recreational activities.

“We want to be able to show the community that we are listening and willing to give back to the St. James/St. John community,” Fey said.

Chateau offers many services including long- and short-term physician-directed care in a 116-bed multi-residence housing facility with 78 beds currently being occupied. The occupancy will remain at 116 after renovations are complete.
