The weather cooperated Saturday and Sunday as St. John the Baptist Parish residents and parish visitors took in the two locally-offered Mardi Gras parades.
On Saturday the Krewe of Towahpasah took to the streets of Reserve in its unique street procession style, and on Sunday Krewe du Monde, the largest parade in the River Parishes, rolled through LaPlace.
A parade with a purpose, Krewe du Monde is a fundraiser for the local chapter of the Lion’s Club and featured approximately 25 floats and numerous school and dance groups.
Sheriff Mike Tregre said there were no major problems at either parade as patrons reveled in the Carnival season locally.
“Both parades went off very, very well,” Tregre said.
