KENNER — The 15th annual Christmas Service of Remembrance will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Belle Grove Plantation Ballroom of the Pontchartrain Center on Williams Boulevard in Kenner.

This free event is sponsored by family and staff of L.A. Muhleisen and Son and Millet-Guidry Funeral Homes of LaPlace.

This service honors the memory of loved ones in this community.

The keynote speaker is the Rev. Dennis Hayes III, Catholic priest of the Blessed Trinity, “The Gift of Memory.”

At the conclusion, participants will be presented with an Angel of Remembrance, taken from a Christmas tree, in memory of their loved one.

Edward Muhleisen, a fifth generation funeral director, said organizers know the holidays are not festive for everyone, especially those families who have experienced a recent death.

“This is why we encourage anyone who has experienced the loss of someone special to attend the service and pay tribute to their memory,” Muhleisen said.

“Historically, those in attendance will find this to be a very comforting and meaningful program, some have even said that their Christmas doesn’t start until they have attended this program and others that they felt the presence of their loved ones during the service.

“Our hope is that it will provide all in attendance with a source of strength and inspiration throughout the holiday season.”

Reservations to attend are not required.
