THURSDAY

• St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgard will host an independence celebration from 5 to 9 p.m. at the church on River Road. Refreshments will be sold, and   fireworks begin at 9 p.m. 

• Food, fun and fireworks will take place on both sides of the river in St. John the Baptist Parish from 6 to 9:30 p.m. The celebration on the east bank takes place at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1550 River Road in Reserve. The west bank celebration will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2361 River Road in Edgard.

• St. Charles Parish will hold its 24th annual Independence Day Celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. at the West Bank Bridge Park, featuring a performance by Category 6, two patriotic balloon-twisting clowns, mini golf for the kids, food and more. The band is scheduled to begin at 6:20 p.m. with a 20-minute fireworks extravaganza to begin at 9 p.m.

FRIDAY

An Independence Day Celebration open to the community is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. at St. Hubert Parish Hall in Garyville. The fun includes food, drinks, raffle, bunco, pastalaya, bingo, washerboard tournament and a fireworks display starting at 8:45 p.m.
