After being diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2012, Garyville resident Dottolo said she took her road to recovery in stride.
She had been working as an aide at East St. John High School when she was diagnosed. She explained that she went to the school nurse because of some swelling she noticed under her arm.
“The best thing that anyone can do is just listen to what your doctors tell you and pay attention to your body,” she said. “You hear a lot of stories from others, but you can’t believe everything you hear about the process. Your body will tell you what you can and cannot handle,” she said.
