LAPLACE — St. Charles Catholic may have been without quarterback Austin Weber Friday night, but Erron Lewis and the Comets rushing attack negated the need for much a passing attack.
Lewis rushed for 216 of St. Charles’ 308 yards on the ground and scored four times in a 62-20 rout of Miller McCoy at SCC.
McCoy actually outgained SCC in the game, 377-346, in total yardage. But SCC forced numerous short field situations en route to scoring eight rushing touchdowns in the game.
Lewis scored the Comets first three offensive touchdowns of the night. Mario Young scored SCC’s second touchdown when he recovered a fumbled punt in the endzone.
Justin Loupe rushed five times for 74 yards and two touchdowns for St. Charles (2-2)
Corey Turner led McCoy (0-4) with 57 rushing yards on 16 carries. He scored one touchdown. Ryan Spencer ran four times for 47 yards and scored twice.
Weber missed the game after sustaining an injury in last week’s game against East Ascension. Backup quarterback Patrick Ratliff subbed for him and completed 2 of 3 passes for 19 yards.
