LaPlace man arrested for residential burglary

LAPLACE – A local man was allegedly involved in the burglary of a Country Club Drive residence earlier this week.
On Tuesday afternoon, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 2300 block of Country Club Drive in LaPlace for the report of the burglary of a residence. Investigators obtained a description the car used in the burglary with the cooperation of concerned citizens and video surveillance,
A few hours later, a deputy saw a car that matched the description of the car used in the burglary, and identified the driver of the car as Kenneth King Jr., 22. King was arrested 10 times in St. John since December 2008. The deputy was familiar with King and knew that he had no driver’s license. When the deputy stopped the car, King allegedly attempted to flee. He was detained after a brief struggle.
Detectives recovered stolen property from the Country Club Drive burglary  and a gun reported stolen from Baton Rouge in January from the car.
King was arrested and booked with resisting an officer, illegal carrying a weapon, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, possession of stolen things and no drivers license. He remains in custody on a bond $202,000.
