Louis “MY LOU” W. Johnson, 69, passed away Aug. 7, 2013.
He was the devoted husband of Beverly Mason-Johnson and son of Louise White and the late George Edward Johnson Sr. He was reared by the late Samuel Berry at the tender age of 2. He was the father of Karen, Kyle, Dustin (Katherine), Amy, Sebastien and Unique Johnson, Akwai (David) Hinman-Inniss and Dayna Martin and brother of George (Marilyn) Johnson, Ronald (Darlene) White, Wesley White, Janice (Fred) Rudolph and Andrea (John) Elliot. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends of the family, pastor officers and members of Pentecost Baptist Church, Gentilly Baptist Church, neighboring churches, YMCA of Greater New Orleans, the Rotary Clubs of St. John and Kenner, St. John the Baptist Parish Council, Original Illinois Club and the McDonogh No. 35 graduating class of 1961 are invited to attend funeral services at Pentecost Baptist Church, 1510 Harrison Ave., New Orleans, on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at 10 a.m. Dr. Rev. Lionel Davis Sr. will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Louis Johnson Educational Fund at Pentecost Baptist Church. Services are entrusted to Estelle J. Wilson Funeral Home of New Orleans.
